Power of Attorney

What is a Power of Attorney?

A Power of Attorney is a document in which you authorize another person, usually your spouse or child, to act on your behalf in the event that you become disabled or incompetent or for any other reason you are unable to act for yourself. A Power of Attorney can prevent your family from having to petition the Court to have you declared incompetent so that the Court can appoint a guardian to act on your behalf in the event that you become disabled or incompetent. Such Court proceedings are time consuming and costly.
